Frequently asked questions

Questions about the platform, the content and the pictures.

Accounts, progress, sources, and what the practice papers are for.

Do I need an account?

No. Every story plays without signing in. An account is what makes progress stick: signed in, the site remembers where you stopped and which scenes you finished, and the library offers you a Resume button instead of Starting over.

Can I play a story again?

Yes. A finished story offers Play again, and your earlier answers stay on your record. Branches you did not take are worth a second pass — several scenes are built so the wrong turn teaches more than the right one. Practice papers can be retaken as well; each attempt shuffles the questions.

How do I know an answer is right?

Under the feedback for each choice there is a source line naming what the scene was written from — an Act section or regulation for the licence papers, a rule or a spec for the other shelves. If a claim cannot show one, it is not in the story.

What happens in a practice paper?

Each paper draws every keyed question in its subject from the library and shows them in a shuffled order, one answer per question. Nothing about correctness reaches your browser: when you submit, the server marks the paper and returns the score, the correct choice, and the source behind it. The timer counts up; there is no time limit to beat.

Why does a paper have fewer questions than the official test?

Each paper card shows the counts of the real paper it is modelled on. Our library is still growing, so a paper shows every eligible question it has and scales the official pass percentage to that count. The score screen prints the scaled mark and the official format side by side, so the difference is never hidden.

Is this the official K53 test?

It is not, and no practice site can be: the test is administered by the licensing authority and its questions are not published. What we do is teach and test the three domains regulation 104 says a learner's licence applicant is examined on — rules of the road, road traffic signs, and the controls and condition of the vehicle. The practice papers follow the published counts and pass marks for those three papers.

Why do the pictures look like clip art?

They are generated, not drawn: each scene's illustration is composed in the browser from its own description, so a newly authored question has art the moment it is saved. Authors attach real images in the admin when a scene needs them.
