About Learning Ability

Choose your path, meet the consequence, keep the reasoning.

Branching lessons where every answer names the rule it rests on.

What we are building

Learning Ability is a small library of branching lessons. Each scene puts you in a situation where you have to make the call — then tells you what the law, the logic or the road says about the call you made. Getting it wrong is part of the lesson, so a wrong answer costs you feedback, not the story.

Stories first, then the paper

Every adventure here is a branching scene: choose an answer, read why it is right or wrong, and carry on. Where a subject has a test at the end of it, the practice papers take that shelf’s questions and present them the way the test does — one answer per question, nothing marked until you submit, then a score against the official pass mark and the source for every answer.

Where the content comes from

Each entry names the source it was written from, and an author has to be able to defend it. The road traffic entries are written from primary law: the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996 and the National Road Traffic Regulations, 2000. Every answer carries the section or regulation behind it, shown under the feedback, so you can look it up.

We do not copy commercial question banks. Where a study guide repeats a figure that the regulations do not contain — a 1,6 mm tyre tread, a 0,22 mg breath limit, a priority-to-the-right rule — the scene says so and quotes the actual number.

What this is not

It is practice, not an examination. The learner's licence test is set and marked by the licensing authority, and the same goes for any other test our shelves prepare you for; passing a story or a practice paper here proves nothing official. The papers follow the published test format — separate papers with their own pass marks — but the library is smaller than an official question bank, so each paper scales that pass mark to the questions it has. Illustrations are drawn in your browser from each scene's own description, which is why they are simple, and why an author can replace any of them with real artwork.
